Malaysia aims to welcome 489,000 Vietnamese tourists this year
VOV.VN - Malaysia aims to attract 489,000 Vietnamese tourists this year, according to the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB).

The information was released during the February 25 press conference among MTPB, the press and travel bloggers with the aim of introducing the new director of the Office in Ho Chi Minh City and unveiling their plan to mark the Malaysian Tourism Year in 2025.
At the event, Amirah Nadiah Mazlan, new director of the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board Office in Ho Chi Minh City, emphasised that the Malaysia Government and MTPB have always considered Vietnam to be one of Malaysia’s key tourism markets
She stressed that last year witnessed Malaysia make great efforts to promote tourism activities in the Vietnamese market as it attracted 330,189 Vietnamese tourists.
Assuming the role of ASEAN Chair this year, Malaysia is keen to promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges, thereby elevating the position of ASEAN in general and Malaysia in particular on the world tourism map.
With the goal of attracting 489,000 Vietnamese tourists and 35.6 million international arrivals this year, as well as earning a tourism revenue of up to US$32.5 billion, Malaysia will seek to further strengthen marketing activities by deploying stimulus and promotion campaigns in Vietnam, she noted.
Accordingly, Malaysia will actively participate in major tourism events in Vietnam, including the Hanoi International Tourism Fair, the Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair, as well as designing package tours through co-operating with airlines and travel companies to implement diverse communication campaigns.
Over the past year, in addition to tourism promotion activities, Malaysia has implemented diverse and attractive tourism programmes specifically for Vietnamese tourists.
“We have paid special attention to increasing direct flights, connecting flights of airlines between the two countries. To date, there are 167 direct flights connecting Vietnam and Malaysia," she noted.
At the event, Malaysia introduced the Malaysia Tourism Year 2026 campaign, with the Malaysia's sun bear being its mascot.
