Ho Chi Minh City helicopter sightseeing tours begin regular flights

VOV.VN - Helicopter sightseeing tours over Ho Chi Minh City will begin regular flights from March 11, aiming to become one of the city’s signature tourism products.

The information was announced by Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, at a signing ceremony on March 6 between partners implementing the Ho Chi Minh City helicopter sightseeing service.

According to the plan, the flights will be organized by VinaGroup International Travel Joint Stock Company, in cooperation with the Southern Helicopter Company (VNHS) and several travel agencies. The first flights are scheduled to depart from Vung Tau Airport.

The helicopter sightseeing journeys depart from Vung Tau Airport and offer four options for visitors, with flight durations ranging from 15 to 60 minutes. Ticket prices start from VND 2.9 million per passenger for the 15-minute sightseeing flight.

According to VinaGroup representatives, helicopter tourism has been successfully developed in many countries. The service is expected to add a new attraction to Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism sector, particularly for high-end visitors, and could be combined with other experiences such as yacht tourism.

Ho Chi Minh City first piloted helicopter tourism in 2022, but the service has yet to operate regularly due to various implementation challenges.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism said the city will soon restart plans to develop the product, diversify flight routes and destinations, and expand the service. In addition to the helicopter facility in Vung Tau, the city plans to call for investment in satellite helipads in other locations to connect with waterway tourism routes and major tourist attractions.
