Foreign airlines increase flights to Phu Quoc amid high travel demand
VOV.VN - Two foreign airlines - Malaysia’s AirAsia and Singapore’s Scoot - have recently increased flight frequencies to Phu Quoc, a popular island destination in Southern Vietnam, in an effort to meeting rising travel demand.

AirAsia has expanded its service from Kuala Lumpur to Phu Quoc from seven to 11 flights per week, aiming to enhance convenience for travelers. Similarly, Scoot now operates six weekly direct flights from Singapore per week from previous 5 flights to better fit into current travel patterns.
According to Lawrence Ho, Scoot’s regional sales manager for the Vietnamese market, Phu Quoc is experiencing strong international interest, not only from Singapore but also from a variety of global markets.
In line with this surge, AirAsia’s decision to increase flights reflects the airline’s strategy to capitalise on demand and improve accessibility for tourists. The airline has also emphasised that its competitive fares have attracted a significant number of travelers from Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.
According to Mastercard’s 2024 travel trend report, Phu Quoc is a standout destination in Asia, that saw a more than 200% increase in air arrivals from Asia compared to 2019. Arrivals from Thailand alone jumped by 210%.
Meanwhile, AirAsia’s booking data shows, Phu Quoc now draws a diverse international crowd from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Australia, the UK, Russia, and beyond.
Further reinforcing its rising popularity, the latest Agoda report ranked Phu Quoc as the most searched international destination for 2025, with accommodation searches soaring by 266% year-on-year.
The island aims to welcome one million international visitors this year, marking an annual rise of 3.9%.
