Vietnam enjoys trade surplus with Canada
VOV.VN - Vietnam got nearly US$2.683 billion trade surplus with Canada last year, up 25.9% over the previous year, according to Statistics Canada.
Vietnam mainly exported machines and electronic and electrical equipment (US$807 million), knitwear and weaving products (US$342 million), footwear (US$338 million, printers, fax and scan machines, computers and components, and mechanic tools (US$296 million), furniture (US$259 million), seafood (US$147 million), suitcases, bags and sports stuff (US$95 million), cashew nuts (US$72 million), and steel (US$49 million).
Meanwhile, Vietnam imported US$513 million worth of goods from Canada, up 18.7%. Major products included fertilisers (US$61 million), soya and oil beans (US$52 million), machines, equipment and tools (US$36 million), leather (US$29 million), means of transport and spare parts (US$28 million) and electrical and electronic machines and equipment (US$12 million).
In 2014, Vietnam’s exports to Canada hit US$2.562 billion and imports were US$431 million, pushing trade surplus with the country up to US$2.131 billion.
