VOV.VN - Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and his wife are scheduled to pay an official visit to Vietnam and co-chair the 46th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee on January 6-7.

The upcoming official visit of Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone to Vietnam from January 6-7 is expected to enhance the trust and close bond between the two Parties and Governments and contribute to making the Vietnam-Laos great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation more substantial and effective, according to Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos has obtained significant achievements in all the fields within its remit this year, particularly in economic and cultural diplomacy, said Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung.

A ceremony was held in Hanoi on December 18 to present Lao orders and medals to individuals from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)’s Government Committees for Religious Affairs and Ethnic Minority Affairs who made outstanding contributions to promoting the Vietnam – Laos friendship.

The first Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia border defence friendship exchange was held on December 14 in the tri-border area that comprises Ngoc Hoi district in Vietnam’s Central Highland province of Kon Tum, Laos’ Attapeu province, and Cambodia’s Ratanakiri province as well as in Kon Tum city.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien has asked stakeholders to speed up progress, complete procedures for importing electricity and coal, and build new transmission lines from Laos to Vietnam.

Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Committee for Culture and Education Nguyen Dac Vinh met with Chairwoman of the Lao NA’s Committee for Cultural and Social Affairs Thoummaly Vongphachanh in Vientiane on December 4, discussing bilateral cooperation within their realm.
