Vietnam's industrial sector grew by 9% in 2022, according to a report published on December 26 by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).

The second meeting of the Vietnam – Egypt Sub-Committee on Trade and Industry Cooperation was held virtually on August 18 under the co-chair of Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Cao Quoc Hung and his Egyptian counterpart Ibrahim El-Seginy.

As trade protectionism is forecast to grow further around the world in 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) is set to step up trade defence measures in accordance with international law and commitments.

Vietnam’s garment-textile sector sets a target of US$39 billion in export revenue this year, equal to that of 2019, according to the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex).

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has interrupted the global supply chain and hurt regional economies, it may become a driving force for the signing of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), said Chheang Vannarith, President of the Cambodian-based Asian Vision Institute (AVI).
