Container goods shipped via Vietnam’s seaports still maintained growth in the first half of this year despite the COVID-19 pandemic, said the Vietnam Maritime Administration (VMA).

Careful consideration is needed before increasing seaport services charges to limit negative impacts on the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Vietnam Maritime Administration.

The total volume of goods passing through Vietnam’s seaports reached nearly 296 million tonnes in the first five months of this year, up 5% year-on-year despite the serious impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eight terminals have been added to the list of those at seaports in Vietnam, raising the total to 286.
