VOV.VN - Cambodian authorities have arrested eight Vietnamese nationals, including three women, during a raid on a site allegedly involved in online fraud in Chbar Ampov District, Phnom Penh.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested the Ministry of Public Security to intensify its crackdown on cybercrime, particularly fraud, given an ongoing restructuring of local police forces.

The E-commerce Development Centre (Ecomviet) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has issued a warning of the growing complexity of online fraud, emphasising that users will face two key threats - surveillance malware designed to steal information - and evolving online scams.

VOV.VN - The police of Da Nang city, central Vietnam, have dismantled an international online fraud organization led by a Chinese national.

Authorities at the Moc Bai international border gate have identified 14 among 410 Vietnamese citizens returning from Cambodia suspected of involvement in online fraud, said the Tay Ninh provincial Border Guard Command on December 13.

The technical monitoring system of the Authority of Information Security (AIS), under the Ministry of Information and Communications, recorded 90,033 information security weaknesses and vulnerabilities of agencies and organisations in Vietnam last month.

Many people are still trapped by online scams despite warnings from authorised agencies.
