Vietnam always supports the use of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ha Kim Ngoc told a panel discussion themed “Nonproliferation, Nuclear Energy, and Climate Change” chaired by US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm in New York on August 2.

VOV.VN - A Vietnamese diplomat has reiterated Vietnam’s policy of using nuclear energy for peaceful applications during a recent meeting with Lydie Evrard, deputy director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna (Austria).

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has proposed developing nuclear energy on a small scale post 2030 in its latest version of the draft Vietnam Power Development Plan from 2021 – 2030 (PDP8) with a vision towards 2045.
