Vietnam seeks Russian assistance in developing nuclear energy for peaceful purposes
VOV.VN - Vietnam expects that Russia and its State Atomiс Energy Corporation (Rosatom) in particular will continue providing support in technology transfer and high-quality human resource training in the field of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made the proposal during his meeting with Alexey Likhachev, director general of Rosatom, in Kazan, Russia, on October 24, on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS Summit there.
Chinh appreciated the cooperation and support of the Russian Federation in the design and operation of the Dalat Nuclear Reactor, as well as in the development of the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre, which contributes to Vietnam’s socio-economic development.
Vietnam needs Russia’s transfer of technology and training of high-quality human resources, including specialists, engineers, and skilled workers in the field of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, he said.
Chinh emphasized that Vietnam values its comprehensive cooperation with Russia, and that the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and space research is an area where the two countries can collaborate effectively.
Likhachev for his part briefed Chinh on the cooperation results between the two countries in the field of nuclear energy, and affirmed that with a strong foundation and long-standing cooperative experience, Rosatom wishes to continue promoting cooperation with Vietnam in the areas proposed by the Prime Minister.
Rosatom is ready to share its expertise and support systematic and organized training for personnel in Vietnam while maximizing localization in this field, he said.
