VOV.VN - Vietnamese garment exports to Australia have kept rising over the past months, though Australia is reducing garment imports from suppliers.

Despite a continued decrease in export turnover in the first eight months compared to the same period last year, the textile and garment industry has shown numerous signs of recovery and opportunities for stronger growth in the remaining months of 2023.

The profits of Vietnamese textile and garment enterprises were diverse in the fourth quarter, with many big names posting great losses.

Textile and garment exports may reach US$47 - US$48 billion in the positive scenario for 2023 and US$45 - US$46 billion in the lower-case scenario, said the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS).

Vietnam’s textile and garment export turnover to Indonesia reached US$10.057 million in September 2022, more than four times that of the previous month.

The textile and garment sector has predicted that difficulties will remain for its exports in the first half of 2023, but there are also silver linings it can pin hopes on.

There remain difficulties for enterprises in the last months of this year, requiring them to be proactive and flexible to finish the year with strong export performance.

An official has advised businesses to adopt green practices to secure sustainable growth in textile and garment export to Canada, where Vietnam ranks second among the exporters of such products.

Vietnam's textile and garment export value reached US$35 billion in the first nine months of 2022, up 21% over the same period last year.
