The focal task of the diplomatic sector is to serve sustainable and self-reliant national development and to guarantee national interests at the highest possible level, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told the sector’s teleconference on January 10.

Under the Party’s leadership and the State’s management, forces in charge of foreign affairs have fulfilled their important tasks of contributing to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment at home and raising the country’s position in the international arena, a senior Party official has said.

VOV.VN - The 77th anniversary of the diplomatic sector( 1945-2022) was marked by the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and other international organisations in Geneva, Switzerland, on August 29.

State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the diplomatic sector for its great contributions to national construction and defence during a meeting on August 23 with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the sector (August 28, 1945-2022).

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh spotlighted prominent achievements of the diplomatic sector over the last two years when addressing the 31st Diplomatic Conference that was held in both in-person and online forms in Hanoi on December 15.

During the Doi moi (Renewal) process, the diplomatic sector has gained important achievements, and left many outstanding hallmarks on foreign affairs, thus helping to build the fortune, potential, position and international prestige that Vietnam has never had before.

The Vietnamese Embassy in France on September 15 held a ceremony to mark the 76th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution (August 19), National Day (September 2) and diplomatic sector establishment.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said he wants the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be proactive, sharp and creative to ensure national interests at a working session with the ministry's officials in Hanoi on June 19 to roll out the foreign policy under the 13th National Party Congress's resolution.

The Foreign Ministry held an annual meeting with the press at the Government Guesthouse in Hanoi on January 19, praising press agencies and reporters nationwide for their contributions to achievements made by the diplomatic sector in the past year.
