VOV.VN - Vietnamese customs authorities have seized tens of thousands of products suspected of infringing intellectual property rights during a nationwide anti-smuggling and counterfeit goods crackdown launched under the Government’s Official Dispatch No. 38.

VOV.VN - Market Surveillance Team No. 2 under the Da Nang Market Surveillance Sub-Department uncovered nearly 300 counterfeit handbags and dozens of fake sports shoes during surprise inspections targeting businesses serving tourists.

Vietnam Customs on April 6 reported that from October 15, 2025 to March 15, 2026, customs forces nationwide detected, seized and handled 8,879 violations, with an estimated total value of more than VND8 trillion (US$303.68 million).

Amid the rapid expansion of e-commerce and social networks, trade fraud and the sale of counterfeit and imitation goods have become increasingly sophisticated, posing major challenges to market surveillance and regulation.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) is set to launch its product traceability system at www.verigoods.vn on December 23, aiming to boost product information transparency, safeguard consumers, and promote sustainable business growth.

Market inspectors uncovered more than 23,000 violations across Vietnam in 2025, collecting VND372 billion (US$14.3 million) in fines as authorities intensified enforcement against counterfeit products and online fraud.

The Department of Customs reported on December 9 that State budget revenue from import–export activities in the first 11 months of this year reached VND420.63 trillion (US$15.95 billion), equivalent to 102.3% of the annual estimate and 89.5% of the sector’s target.

Product identification and traceability remain the two pillars of modern market management, Tran Huu Linh, Director General of the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said at a conference on October 9 on enhancing the value of Vietnamese products.
