Da Nang seizes nearly 300 counterfeit luxury bags in market inspection
VOV.VN - Market Surveillance Team No. 2 under the Da Nang Market Surveillance Sub-Department uncovered nearly 300 counterfeit handbags and dozens of fake sports shoes during surprise inspections targeting businesses serving tourists.
The team conducted inspections at seven business establishments in Son Tra Ward and Hoi An Ward in Da Nang, uncovering 295 counterfeit luxury handbags bearing the Gucci, Chanel, Hermès and Fendi brands, along with 27 pairs of fake Nike sports shoes, with a total value of nearly VND180 million (about US$6,800).
Inspection teams recorded administrative violations, seized and sealed all infringing goods, and are completing procedures for administrative penalties totaling more than VND215 million (about US$8,200). All counterfeit goods will be destroyed in accordance with regulations.
As counterfeit and imitation goods continue to pose challenges, particularly in branded fashion items, Da Nang’s market surveillance force said it will intensify inspections and market control to promptly detect and handle violations, helping protect consumer rights and ensure a fair business environment.
Pham Ngoc Son, Head of the Da Nang Market Surveillance Sub-Department, said inspections at multiple business locations have uncovered violations involving counterfeit goods imitating well-known brands. He said the force has taken a range of strong measures to tighten market supervision across the city as a contribution to a transparent and safe shopping environment and protecting consumers’ legitimate rights.
