Australia’s Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has completed its final report on biosecurity requirements for fresh pomelo from Vietnam, determining that the fruits could be imported to the country provided they comply with comprehensive pest control measures and phytosanitary protocols.

The Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (APQA) of the Republic of Korea (RoK) has officially announced regulations for importing fresh pomelos from Vietnam on its website, according to the Plant Protection Department (PPD) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
VOV.VN - The Plant Protection Department of Vietnam and the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency of the Republic of Korea have in principle agreed on criteria and requirements for Vietnamese pomelo to enter the Korean market, said Nguyen Quang Hieu, deputy director of the Plant Protection Department.
The import of Vietnamese fresh pomelo into the Australian market may be allowed if the product meets the Oceanian country's biosecurity conditions, said the Vietnam Sanitary and Phytosanitary Notification Authority and Enquiry Point (SPS Vietnam).
The first batch of “Dien” pomelos weighing 16 tonnes, part of an order of 48 tonnes, from Luong Son district, the northern province of Hoa Binh, was exported to the US on December 5.
Quality and brand are recognised as decisive factors for Vietnam’s fruits and vegetables to tap the opportunities from the UK – Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA) and expand export to this highly demanding market, said Dang Phuc Nguyen, General Secretary of Vietnam Vegetable and Fruit Association (Vinafruit).
