Vietnam's durian exports to China witnessed a significant surge in the first quarter of 2024, according to statistics of trade via the Youyi Guan border gate cited by China's Xinhua News Agency.
VOV.VN - Vietnam raked in US$253 million from exporting nearly 57,000 tonnes of durian during the first quarter of the year, posting an increase of 42% in volume and 63.7% in value on-year, according to data released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
Exporters should further strengthen trade connections and improve the quality of their goods to sustain export growth to China as this is no longer a "lenient" market, said insiders.
Vietnam's agricultural products were sold well in foreign markets in Q1, with a surge in both volume and prices documented.
There remains ample room for Vietnam's exports to China and the growth will be directly proportional to the quality improvement of products by domestic enterprises, according to Dau tu (Investment) Newspaper.
VOV.VN - By the end of February, Vietnam had exported more than 41 thousand tonnes of durian, approximately the same amount exported throughout all of 2022.
VOV.VN - With existing advantages, greater attention is being given to improving Vietnamese durian quality so as to continue affirming its export position ,while engaging in the billion-dollar export industry in 2024, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MoIT).
An additional 99 aquaculture establishments were licensed to export to the Republic of Korea (RoK), the European Union, China, the US and Russia in 2023, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s National Authority for Agro-Forestry-Fishery Quality, Processing and Market Development (NAFIQPM).
More than 255 tonnes of durian were exported to China via border gates in the northern province of Lao Cai in the first three days of 2024, earning nearly US$1 million, according to Lao Cai Border Gate Customs Office.
