VOV.VN - Vietnam’s seafood export turnover reached approximately US$874 million in January 2026, up 13% year on year, as exporters worked to maintain orders amid continued pressure on global seafood trade from technical barriers and tariffs in several major markets, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) reported on February 3.

Despite volatility in global trade, aquatic exports have maintained solid growth, laying the foundation for the sector to reach US$11 billion this year and expand its presence in demanding markets.

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s seafood exports to Japan have shown a strong recovery, bringing in nearly US$1.6 billion in the period from January to November this year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Participants in a workshop held on November 13 agreed on the need for Vietnamese firms to shift from selling raw commodities to higher-value goods and from a volume-driven approach to a focus on sustainable quality when it comes to exports to the EU.

Vietnam’s agro-forestry-aquatic product exports reached an estimated US$5.96 billion in October, up 6.3% year-on-year, bringing total export earnings in the first 10 months to US$58.13 billion, a year-on-year increase of 12.9%, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

Vietnam is orienting the development of its fisheries sector towards responsibility and sustainability by reducing exploitation, expanding aquaculture, and protecting aquatic resources.

Vietnam’s aquatic exports are on pace to reach US$10 billion in 2025, but rising trade and technical barriers, particularly in the US, are prompting exporters to pivot toward diversification and value-added processing to maintain momentum.

Vietnam earned US$45.37 billion from agro-forestry-aquatic exports during the first eight months of 2025, up 12% year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
