Vietnam up five notches in latest FIFA rankings

VOV.VN - Vietnam have climbed five notches in the FIFA rankings for April 2025, reaching 109th place in the world.

The improvement follows their successful run of eight matches, including five wins and three draws, most of which were part of the 2024 ASEAN Cup held from December 2024 to January 2025.

During the March 2025 FIFA Days, Vietnam also secured a 5-0 win against Laos in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers and a 2-1 friendly win over Cambodia.

These results helped Vietnam gain 19.04 points, bringing them closer to the FIFA Top 100.

Meanwhile, Thailand dropped three notches to 99th in the world after struggling in their recent international matches. They also played eight matches, including four wins, three draws, and one loss.

In Southeast Asia, Thailand remain the highest-ranked team, but the gap between them and other regional teams, especially Vietnam and Indonesia (ranked 108th), has significantly narrowed. Indonesia also made a strong push, climbing 4 spots, closely trailing Vietnam in the rankings.

At the top of the global rankings, Argentina continue to hold the No.1 spot, followed by France (No.2), Brazil (No.3), England (No.4), and Belgium (No.5).

FIFA í scheduled to announce its following rankings update on July 10.
