Vietnam drawn in Group of Life for 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers
VOV.VN - The lucky draw has placed Vietnam in a Group of Life at the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualification round, as the team will only face relatively less formidable opponents.
The results of the draw held on March 27 at the headquarters of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in Malaysia show Vietnam will play in Group E alongside the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Guam, and the Maldives.
All regional teams have been divided into eight groups, including two groups of five and six groups of four, to contest in a centralised league format.
Other Southeast Asian representatives including Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia and Cambodia have been put into Groups A, B, C, D, and G, respectively.
The qualifiers for the 2026 AFC Asian Cup will be held from June 23 to July 5. The top two sides of each group will then progress to the final round which is set to take place from March 1 to 21, 2026.
This tournament will also serve as the first stage of Asian qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup and the 2028 Olympic football tournament.
Vietnamese footballers will gather to take part in a training camp in May after the national women’s football tournament concludes.
