Vietnam trounce Northern Mariana Islands at 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers

VOV.VN - Vietnam on November 24 delivered a crushing 14-0 victory over Northern Mariana Islands, claiming the top spot in Group C of the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers.

Given the significant gap in strength, Vietnam fielded a strong lineup with the goal of scoring as many goals as possible to improve their goal difference against their main rivals, Malaysia. Coach Cristiano Roland’s players delivered a dominant and efficient performance, showing no mercy to their weaker opponents.

From the first whistle, the hosts were in control. Vietnam’s Tran Manh Quan opened the scoring just 31 seconds into the match, setting the tone for the rest of the game. By halftime, Vietnam had already netted 6 goals, with two goals each from Tran Manh Quan (1', 16') and Nguyen Van Duong (21', 23'), and one goal each from Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc (33') and Nguyen Minh Thuy (35').

In the second half, Vietnam continued their relentless attack, scoring 8 more goals by Tran Hoang Viet (47'), Nguyen Manh Cuong (53'), Trieu Dinh Vy (60'), Dao Quy Vuong (73'), Tran Ngoc Son (74', 79', 90+3'), and Le Trong Dai Nhan (81'). Notably, Dinh Vy and Dai Nhan scored two of the most beautiful goals of the match with excellent technique and composure.

With this dominant win, Vietnam not only earned all three points but also moved ahead of Malaysia in the goal difference race, as the Malaysian side had only managed a 1-0 victory over Hong Kong (China).

Currently, Vietnam are at the top of Group C with 6 points from 2 matches, holding a significant advantage in the race for the sole ticket to the finals. They are scheduled to take on Hong Kong on November 26, who are currently in third place in the group.

The 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers Group C matches are being held from November 22 to 30 at the PVF Training Centre in northern Hung Yen province. Vietnam aim to top the group and secure a place in the final tournament.
