Vietnam thrash Guam 5-0 in AFC U17 Women Asian Cup qualifiers opener
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s U17 national team claimed a commanding 5-0 victory over Guam U17 women in their opening match of the 2026 AFC U17 Women Asian Cup qualifiers at Binh Duong stadium, Ho Chi Minh City on October 13.

Right from the kickoff, coach Okiyama Masahiko’s squad pressed high, controlled possession, and applied intense pressure on the opponent’s goal. Their aggressive, fast-paced play quickly created several dangerous scoring opportunities.
In the 21st minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by Guam’s center-back, Minh Anh skillfully intercepted the ball and finished from close range to open the scoring for the hosts.
Vietnam continued to dominate the attack. In the 40th minute, following a precise cross from the left flank, Thu Phuong laid the ball off perfectly for Minh Anh, who struck a powerful one-touch shot to double the lead to 2-0.
In the second half, Vietnam maintained full control of the match. In the 54th minute, after a well-coordinated build-up through the center, Yen Nhi made a run to receive a perfectly timed pass and fired a powerful shot to make it 3-0.
Facing a heavy deficit, the Guam side struggled mentally and conceded two more goals before the final whistle. Minh Anh and Hong Thai scored in the 73rd and 87th minutes, respectively, sealing a comprehensive 5-0 victory for Vietnam in their opening match of the 2026 AFC U17 Women Asian Cup qualifiers.
