Vietnam train in RoK in preparation for ASEAN Cup 2024
VOV.VN - The Vietnam national football team will undergo a 10-day training camp in Gyeongju, the Republic of Korea, starting on November 23, before taking part in the 15th ASEAN Football Championship (Mitsubishi Cup 2024) in December.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has coordinated with the Korean Football Association (KFA) on living conditions, training grounds, and arrangement of friendly matches for the team.
The Vietnamese team are expected to play against at least two Korean clubs, though the names of these opponents have yet to be disclosed.
After concluding the training camp on December 3, the team will have five days before their first match in the 2024 ASEAN Cup. This gives coach Kim Sang-sik and his players just over two weeks to complete all preparations before the tournament.
Kim has finalized a preliminary list of 50 players for the national squad, which must be submitted to the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) by November 17. From this list, the coaching board will select around 30 players to engage in the Korean training camp.
Kim is expected to call up familiar faces from previous national team gatherings, including members of the Vietnam U23 team. Key players currently in the V.League, like Nguyen Cong Phuong, Nguyen Hoang Duc, and Dang Van Lam, are still under consideration.
In the upcoming ASEAN Cup 2024, Vietnam will play in Group B alongside Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Indonesia, with a goal of reaching the finals.
