Vietnam thrashes Hong Kong in opening match of 2026 AFC Futsal qualifiers
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s national futsal team recorded a resounding 9-1 victory over Hong Kong (China) in their opening match of the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup qualifiers on September 20.

Under coach Diego Giustozzi, the team controlled the match from the start, mounting relentless attacks. By midway through the first half, Doan Phat, Thinh Phat, and Gia Hung had each scored, giving Vietnam a 3-0 lead. Da Hai and Duc Hoa added two more goals before halftime, sending the team into the break with a commanding 5-0 advantage.
Hong Kong responded early in the second half with a goal from Lee Ho Yin, but Vietnam answered almost immediately through Minh Quang, restoring the five-goal margin.
Later, Hong Kong’s Chow Ka Lok Leo received a red card, allowing Vietnam to capitalize on the numerical advantage. Minh Quang scored again, making it 7-1, before Manh Dung and Minh Quang added two late goals to complete the 9-1 rout for Vietnam on the opening day of the qualifiers.
