Vietnam women’s futsal team top Group B after goalless draw with Iran

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s women’s futsal team secured the top spot in Group B of the AFC Women's Futsal Championship following a goalless draw against Iran on May 11.

With both teams already guaranteed a place in the quarterfinals, the match served as the decider for the group’s top position. As both sides aimed to conserve energy for the next round, the game was played at a relatively low tempo, with few clear-cut chances created on either end.

The 0–0 result meant both Vietnam and Iran finished the group stage with seven points, but Vietnam claimed the top spot thanks to a superior goal difference (+5 compared to Iran’s +3). As Group B winners, Vietnam will face the runners-up of Group C in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Iran, finishing second, will take on Chinese Taipei, widely seen as a less formidable opponent in the knockout stage. Vietnam’s quarterfinal opponent will be determined by the outcome of the match between Japan and Thailand in Group C.

In the 2025 HDBank National Futsal Championship, Sahako defeated Tan Hiep Hung (Ho Chi Minh City) 3–2. In another fixture, Thai Son Nam (Ho Chi Minh City) faced off against Luxury Ha Long.
