Vietnam advance to AVC Women’s Nations Cup semi-finals
VOV.VN - Vietnam on June 11 evening secured a dominant 3-0 victory over India in their third Group A match at the 2025 AVC Women’s Nations Cup that is taking place at Dong Anh Gymnasium in Hanoi.

With India seen as the weakest team in Group A and sitting at the bottom of the standings, head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet took the opportunity to rest his key players, including captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, powerhouse spiker Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, and setter Doan Thi Lam Oanh.
Instead, the match featured less-used players such as Kim Thoa, Kieu Trinh, Nhu Quynh, Ly Ly, and Pham Thi Hien. Although the team faced minor coordination issues in the first set, they quickly found their rhythm and cruised to victory. The second and third sets highlighted Vietnam’s depth, as the reserves dominated with strong serves, sharp attacks, and solid defence.
This is Vietnam’s third consecutive 3-0 win following their previous victories over Hong Kong (China) and Chinese Taipei by the same margin. With this result, Vietnam led Group A with a perfect record and officially clinched a spot in the semifinals, regardless of the outcome in their final group match.
They are scheduled to face Australia at 8:00 PM on June 12 in the last group stage game.
In Group B, Kazakhstan also confirmed their semifinal spot after winning all four of their matches, topping the group. The race for the second semifinal slot is heating up between the Philippines and Iran. The Philippines moved into second place after defeating New Zealand, overtaking Iran in the standings.
However, their path remains difficult. Tthe Philippines must face unbeaten Kazakhstan in their final match, while Iran play lower-ranked Mongolia, giving them a potential edge.
The semifinals are scheduled for June 13, followed by the final on June 14.
