Thuy Linh suffers elimination from Taipei Open
VOV.VN - Leading female Vietnamese badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh has bowed out of the Taipei Open after failing to progress to the second round of the women’s single event on July 20.
This comes as Thuy Linh faced off against Ishika Jaiswal of the United States in the main match of the tournament. In the first set, despite her best efforts, she ultimately lost 21-9 to her US rival.
The second set witnessed the local player put in a poor performance and she was ultimately forced to accept failure with a score of 21-19. As a result, she was defeated 2-0 by Jaiswal and eliminated from the tournament.
The 2022 Taipei Open is taking place from July 19 to July 24 and is an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 event which carries a total purse of US$500,000.
After the tournament, Thuy Linh will return to the nation to prepare for future domestic and international competitions.
The female star is notable for having climbed four places to 55th in the world rankings, becoming Vietnam's number one female badminton player in the process.
