Vietnamese badminton players to compete at 2021 BWF World Championships
Vietnamese top badminton players Nguyen Tien Minh, Vu Thi Trang and Nguyen Thuy Linh will compete at the 2021 BWF World Championships in Spain slated for this December.
Minh, the highest ranked badminton player of Vietnam and former world's number 4, earned a bronze medal at the world tournament in 2013 and another bronze at the Asian Championships two years ago.
At the age of 38, he clinched a berth at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games held this July.
Trang is also a veteran player of Vietnam as she competed at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil and was a bronze medallist at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.
This year, in her first Olympic appearance, Linh won two matches and was only defeated by No.1 player Tai Tzu-ying of Chinese Taipei.
General Secretary of the Vietnam Badminton Federation Le Thanh Ha said the upcoming competition will offer a valuable chance for Vietnamese players to sharpen their skills at international arena, after they have hardly competed at any tournaments in the recent past due to COVID-19.
