Players fly to Indonesia for 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup
VOV.VN - Vietnamese players left Ho Chi Minh City for Indonesia on January 24 to compete at the2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup, beginning their campaign at the continental tournament.
The squad, led by head coach Diego Giustozzi, departed Tan Son Nhat International Airport on a 10:30 a.m. flight and arrived in Jakarta at 1:50 p.m. local time. After landing, the team travel to their base to settle in and complete final preparations before the competition begins.
Prior to departure, the players concluded a training camp at the Chanh Hung Futsal Arena in Ho Chi Minh City and played several warm-up matches, including two fixtures against Afghanistan, to fine-tune tactics, assess personnel and build match readiness. Coach Giustozzi has finalised a 14-player squad for the tournament.
At the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup finals, Vietnam have been drawn into Group B alongside strong opponents Thailand, the reigning Asian runners-up, as well as Kuwait and Lebanon. With thorough preparation, strong determination and a well-balanced squad, the team aim to deliver their best performances and secure positive results, continuing to assert Vietnam’s position in Asian futsal.
Vietnam previously made history at the Asian stage by reaching the semi-finals in 2016, a breakthrough that earned the country its first-ever berth at the FIFA Futsal World Cup. Building on that legacy and bolstered by a new generation of promising young players, Giustozzi’s side are widely expected to make another strong impression at this year’s continental championship.
