Vietnam to face Australia at ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship
VOV.VN - Vietnam will play Australia in group B at the ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship 2026, according to an official draw held by the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) on January 19.
The tournament, which will be held for the second time, features seven national women’s futsal teams from Southeast Asia. Vietnam are the defending champions, having won the inaugural edition staged in the Philippines.
According to the draw, Group B includes Vietnam, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Australia, while Group A comprises hosts Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
The participating teams and their current FIFA futsal rankings are Thailand (8th), Vietnam (11th), Indonesia (18th), Malaysia (21st), Myanmar (38th), Australia (66th) and the Philippines (69th).
As both the reigning ASEAN champions and SEA Games 33 gold medallists, Vietnam are expected to continue to assert their strength, maintain consistent performances and show composure at the regional level.
The ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship 2026 will take place at Terminal Hall, Terminal 21 Shopping Mall, in Nakhon Ratchasima province, Thailand, from February 24 to March 2, 2026. Matches will be free to the public and broadcast live on Thailand’s TrueVisions Now platform.
In preparation for their title defence, the Vietnamese team, led by head coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang, regrouped and resumed training in Ho Chi Minh City from January 18.
