This is the first-ever international pickleball tournament hosted in Da Nang by the Da Nang Pickleball Federation, FPT Play, and America & Asia Connection Co., Ltd (AAC).
According to the organisers, PPA Tour Asia – MB Vietnam Cup 2025 is Asia’s largest pickleball tournament in terms of prize money (US$150,000), number of participants, and spectator attendance. The competition features two categories - Professional (Pro) and Amateur - with matches taking place at Tien Son Sports Arena and Tuyen Son Sports Village.
The professional category includes renowned pickleball stars such as Ben Johns, a legendary player with over 150 PPA Tour titles in the United States, along with Tyson McGuffin, Phuc Huynh, Trinh Linh Giang, and others.
The tournament also features a special Celebrity Cup event, where famous Vietnamese artists and celebrities like Tuan Hung, Minh Tiep, Chi Bao, and Binh Minh compete and interact with fans, blending sports with entertainment.
“With the strong support of the city, we believe that PPA Tour Asia – MB Vietnam Cup 2025 will deliver world-class pickleball matches and unforgettable experiences for fans of the sport,” said Duong Quang Thuan, Director of AAC and Head of the Organising Committee, at the opening ceremony
Spectators enjoyed thrilling exhibition matches and showmatches by top international athletes, as well as vibrant musical performances. Fans also had the chance to play pickleball alongside stars like Ben Johns and Tyson McGuffin during special interactive sessions.
The tournament will run until October 4, aiming to set a new Guinness World Record for the pickleball event with the largest one-day spectator attendance. More than 6,000 fans are expected to come and support players in the final. Alongside the competition, the Vietnam Sport Festival will be held, highlighting a large-scale sports exhibition, pickleball product booths, interactive experiences, and meet-and-greet sessions with athletes.
Tran Phuoc Son, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Council and President of the Da Nang Pickleball Federation, noted that the tournament is a valuable opportunity for Vietnamese athletes, especially those from Da Nang, to compete, exchange, and learn from international players.
“The tournament will not only boost the development of pickleball in Vietnam but also inspire young people and sports enthusiasts, contributing to the growth of community sports,” he said.
