First medals for Vietnam at 2025 Asian Youth Games in Bahrain
VOV.VN - Taekwondo martial artists brought home one silver and two bronze medals for Vietnam at the 2025 Asian Youth Games (ASIAD Youth 2025) in Bahrain, on October 24.
In particular, 14-year-old athlete Hoang Thi Thu Huyen won the silver medal in the women’s 44kg category after an impressive performance, defeating three opponents to reach the final against a competitor from Kazakhstan.
Facing a more experienced rival, Thu Huyen fought hard but lost 0–2, securing a well-deserved silver medal.
The two bronze medals went to Bui Mai Phuong in the women’s over 63kg and Tran Ho Nhan Van in the men’s over 73kg.
As of 8:45 p.m. on October 24, Vietnam ranked 17th overall on the medal table with one silver and two bronze medals.
These are the first medals for Vietnam at the 2025 Asian Youth Games whish is taking place in Bahrain.
The 2025 Asian Youth Games features participation from over 40 countries and territories, with competitions across numerous disciplines included in the Youth Olympic programme. The event serves as an important platform to identify and prepare young talents for future Asian Games and Olympic Games.
Vietnam has fielded 50 athletes, competing in 11 out of 28 sports at the Games, including Athletics, Badminton, Jujitsu, Boxing, Judo, Wrestling, Weightlifting, Taekwondo, Golf, Cycling, and Muay Thai.
