VOV.VN - Global football governing body FIFA has decided to provide an additional two video assistant referee (VAR) vans for Vietnam to use in its football tournaments.
This announcement was made on the sidelines meeting of the FIFA Women's Football Convention in Sydney held between Tran Quoc Tuan, president of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), and Kenny Jean Marie, director of Member Associations Services.
During the meeting, Marie noted that FIFA highly appreciates the VFF’s efforts for further investment and the effective preparations of the Vietnamese women's football team at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
He also congratulated the Vietnamese women's team on their progress in their first-time engagement, adding that FIFA is fully committed to continuing to provide effective support for the better development of women's football in Vietnam towards the next World Cup.
FIFA has approved VAR use in the V.league 1. In line with this, the world’s football governing body will observe the implementation of the technology for three years.
Currently, Vietnam has two VAR vans for use in the northern and southern regions. With the support of FIFA, the number of VAR vans will be increased to four.
