FIFA President Gianni Infantino accepts VFF invitation to visit Vietnam
VOV.VN - President Gianni Infantino of the world’s football governing body FIFA has accepted an invitation to visit Vietnam by a senior leader of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

The invitation was extended by VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan during his meeting with the FIFA President on the sidelines of the FIFA Executive Football Summit that took place in Miami, USA, on June 23.
Both sides discussed ways to strengthen international cooperation and explore new opportunities for the development of Vietnamese football in the near future.
Tuan thanked Infantino for FIFA’s ongoing and practical support for Vietnamese football, especially through development initiatives under the FIFA Forward programme.
In addition to the invitation, Tuan also proposed that Vietnam host major international FIFA conferences and seminars in the future.
Such events would not only affirm VFF’s role as an active and dynamic FIFA member, but also serve as a valuable opportunity to promote Vietnam’s image, culture, and people to the global community, he said.
In response, Infantino warmly accepted the invitation and confirmed he would arrange a visit to Vietnam at an appropriate time in the near future.
Under the FIFA Forward programme, Vietnam received FIFA funds in 2023 to upgrade the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre, including its floodlights, artificial turf, medical equipment, and new dormitories.
In 2023, FIFA also delivered more than 50,000 footballs to approximately 1,000 schools and youth centres throughout Vietnam as part of its “FIFA Football for Schools” initiative.
Since 2001, the “Football for All” grassroots project, initially a VFF-Norwegian Football Federation initiative, received backing from the FIFA Foundation, helping establish hundreds of local clubs, teams, and annual educational and social events for youth.
In April 2023, FIFA hosted a regional ASEAN-level FIFA Forward 3.0 workshop in Ho Chi Minh City, bringing together 12 Southeast Asian football federations, including VFF, focused on enhancing technical, women’s football, integrity, and child protection initiatives.
