VOV, KBS deepen media ties with new cooperation deal
VOV.VN - Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) have signed a renewed media cooperation agreement, marking a new phase in cooperation between the two national broadcasters.
The signing ceremony took place in Hanoi on April 21 during a state visit to Vietnam by President Lee Jae-myung of the Republic of Korea, underscoring the growing depth of Vietnam–RoK relations.
Speaking at the ceremony, VOV President Do Tien Sy described the agreement as an important milestone in strengthening cooperation between the two media organisations. He highlighted VOV’s ongoing efforts in digital transformation, including the integration of artificial intelligence and the development of digital content ecosystems such as podcasts and social media platforms, aimed at expanding its global reach.
In that context, he emphasised the importance of international partnerships, noting that closer cooperation with KBS would contribute to enhancing information exchange and promoting the strong and dynamic relationship between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
For his part, KBS President and CEO Park Jang-beom stressed that the agreement holds particular significance as the two countries approach the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027. He noted that cooperation with Vietnam could serve as a gateway for broader engagement with ASEAN, expressing hope that the renewed partnership would deliver tangible outcomes across content production, technology, and public service broadcasting.
Originally signed in 2001, the cooperation agreement has been updated to better reflect current needs and technological developments. The revised framework includes expanded collaboration in news sharing, co-production of radio and multimedia content, digital broadcasting technologies, external broadcasting, and training and exchange of personnel and experts.
The renewed agreement not only builds on more than two decades of cooperation but also aligns with broader efforts to strengthen Vietnam–RoK relations through 2030.
At the event, leaders from both sides also exchanged views on emerging trends in modern journalism and discussed opportunities for deeper collaboration in the context of digital transformation.
