Vietnam’s largest airport sees surge in air passengers during Tet
VOV.VN - Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh, the largest of its kind in Vietnam, is expected to operate 834 flights with 136,000 passengers on board, February 13, the fourth day of Lunar New Year, known locally as Tet.
Of the total, 414 flights bring more than 76,000 passengers to the city, said a representative of the airport.
The February 13 number of passengers breaks the February 7 record when the airport served 134,000 travellers.
On February 12 alone, the airport also served 126,000 passengers, with half of them returning to the city after the long Tet holiday.
According to the leadership of the airport, the number of passengers via the airport will continue to increase in the coming days as they return to work after fanning out to their hometowns across the country for Tet family reunions.
Currently, Tan Son Nhat International Airport has been deploying the Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) system in an attempt to deal with flight delays. It has drawn up security plans to ensure passenger safety in the coming days.
This Tet holiday in Vietnam lasts from February 8 to 14.
