Vietnam to launch many expressway projects to improve regional connectivity
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Construction (MoC) has set timelines for the commencement of numerous expressway projects aimed at enhancing the national infrastructure system and strengthening regional connections.

Under a recently released dispatch, the MoC has instructed Project Management Boards of various key transportation projects to complete procedures for contractor/investor selection to kick off the La Son - Hoa Lien, Dau Giay - Tan Phu, and My An - Cao Lanh expressway projects this May, and key bridge projects this June.
The MoC also recommended that project owners finalise approval procedures and develop specific mechanisms for the expansion of the Cam Lo - La Son expressway by April so that they would break ground on this project this May. In addition, the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway is planned for May 2025, with construction starting in early Q3 2025.
For the five component projects of the North-South Expressway in the Eastern Region (Phase 2017-2020), including Mai Son - National Highway 45, National Highway 45 - Nghi Son, Nghi Son - Dien Chau, Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet, and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay, the Project Management Boards are required to expedite the procedures for launching tenders for the supply and installation of smart traffic management systems, vehicle weight control systems, and toll collection systems. These projects should be completed by October 31, 2025.
For the component projects of the North-South Expressway in the Eastern Region (Phase 2021-2025), project management boards and investors must finalise design approvals, tender documents, and issue invitations to bid for equipment supply and installation by the end of May. Contractors should be selected, contracts signed, and construction started in June. Completion is expected by October 31, 2025.
The Ministry is also pushing for accelerated disbursement of funds to ensure the projects do not face funding shortages.
