Gov’t leader inspects Cao Bang – Tra Linh Expressway construction progress

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, during his working visit to northern Cao Bang province on February 2, inspected the construction progress and extended Lunar New Year greetings to workers at the Cao Bang – Tra Linh Expressway project, including the Dong Khe Tunnel.

The Cao Bang – Tra Linh Expressway project which is being carried out by a consortium led by Deo Ca Group has a total length of 121 km, with the investment divided into two phases, totaling over VND47 trillion.

Phase 1 involves the construction of a 93 km section, starting at the Tan Thanh Border Gate interchange in Van Lang district of Lang Son province, and ending at the National Highway 3 interchange in Chi Thao commune of Cao Bang province. With an investment of VND14 trillion, 69.43% of which is sourced from the state budget, this phase is expected to recover its investment over a period of 22 years and 4 months.

Upon completion, the expressway will reduce travel time between Cao Bang and Hanoi from 6-7 hours at present to about 3.5 hours. It will open up opportunities for socio-economic, and cultural development of Cao Bang and Lang Son provinces, as well as connecting the northeastern border region to Hanoi and the key economic hubs of the country.

Phase 2 of the project will involve expanding the existing 93.35 km section with an investment of VND3,839 billion, and constructing a new 27.71 km section connecting the Tra Linh border gate, with an investment of VND5,107 billion.

At the construction site, the Prime Minister sent his best Lunar New Year wishes to contractors, investors and workers, while inquiring about the specifics of the work, safety standards, and the welfare policies for the workers on-site.

He thanked the workers for sacrificing their Lunar New Year holiday to work in multiple shifts to speed up the project’s progress. He also shared that by 2025 the country would open an expressway running from the North to the South, and therefore, all localities and construction units must work hard together to ensure the project’s timely completion.

The Prime Minister urged the workers to do their best in their roles to contribute to the country’s common goals. He requested that local authorities mobilize additional force to join the effort to create a competitive and enthusiastic atmosphere at the construction site.

The government leader instructed Deo Ca group to mobilize more local contractors to join the project to learn about experience in undertaking a big project.
