Vietnam safe from COVID-19 over 24 hours
VOV.VN - Vietnam has confirmed no coronavirus cases during the past 24 hours, keeping its tally at 1,049, while 805 patients have so far been discharged from hospital, the Ministry of Health said in its September 5 update.
According to the ministry’s 18.00hrs bulletin, the country has confirmed 691 locally transmitted coronavirus infections since the outbreak occurred in January. Of the figure, 551 cases have been recorded since the virus resurged in late July.
The remaining 358 cases have returned to Vietnam from epidemic hit countries such as the US, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Russia, the UK, France, Germany and several Southeast Asian nations.
Notably, 19 patients were discharged from hospital on September 5 alone, including 15 in Da Nang city, the country’s largest coronavirus outbreak. Its neighbour, Quang Nam province, announced four recoveries, including a 90-year-old patient who also suffered from underlying illnesses.
To date, doctors have cured 805 out of 1,049 patients.
Currently, 209 active cases are receiving treatment at different health facilities, with 92 cases having tested negative for the virus at least once.
Vietnam has so far registered 35 deaths, and the death toll may rise in the coming days as 10 patients are in serious or critical condition, with four running a high risk of death. Most of the fatalities suffer from underlying illnesses.
