COVID-19: 3 imported cases take Vietnam’s tally to 1,049

VOV.VN - Vietnam has confirmed three coronavirus cases, all returning from overseas, during the past 12 hours, bringing the country’s total number of COVID-19 infections to 1,049.

The three cases are Vietnamese citizens who returned to Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport from Ukraine on September 1.

They were immediately quarantined in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and tested for COVID-19 on September 3, with the results coming back positive the following day.

The new cases have brought Vietnam’s tally of coronavirus infections to 1,049, of whom 691 cases are locally transmitted.

Notably, 551 cases of community transmission have been registered since the virus resurged in Da Nang city, central Vietnam, on July 25.

So far 786 patients have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery, including 19 on September 4 alone.

Currently, 228 active cases are receiving treatment at health facilities across the country, with 99 cases having tested negative at least once.

Vietnam has recorded 35 deaths since the outbreak recurred in late July.

Most of the deaths were elderly people who suffered from serious diseases such as end-stage chronic kidney failure, end-stage blood cancer, coronary syndrome, acute respiratory failure, polyarthritis, hypertension, diabetes (Types 2), sepsis, pneumonia, and multi-organ failure.
