COVID-19: 10 cases in serious or critical condition
VOV.VN - Vietnam has registered no new coronavirus cases during the past 12 hours but 10 active cases are in serious or critical condition, according to the Ministry of Health in its update at 06.00hrs September 5.
The country has confirmed 691 locally transmitted coronavirus infections since the outbreak occurred in January. Of the figure, 551 cases have been recorded since the virus resurged in late July.
The remaining 358 cases have returned to Vietnam from epidemic hit countries such as the US, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Russia, the UK, France, Germany and several Southeast Asian nations.
The number of people placed in quarantine for medical surveillance nationwide has fallen to more than 43,000.
Doctors discharged 786 COVID-19 patients after making a full recovery. Currently, 228 active cases are receiving treatment at different health facilities, with 99 cases having tested negative for the virus at least once.
Notably, 10 patients are in serious or critical condition, with four running a high risk of death. Vietnam has so far registered 35 deaths, and most of them suffer from underlying illnesses.
