Vietnam, Argentina strengthen educational and academic cooperation

VOV.VN - Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina Ngo Minh Nguyet held a working session with representatives of Austral University on October 8 to discuss expanding educational, training, and academic research cooperation.

Opening the meeting, Dr. Gabriel Astarloa, Dean of the Law School at Austral University, outlined the institution's academic programs and research scope. Founded in 1991, the university offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in politics, international relations, public policy, and governance, alongside ongoing international exchange initiatives.

Astarloa expressed interest in building partnerships with Vietnamese institutions to facilitate faculty, student, and scholar exchanges, as well as joint research projects.

Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet affirmed that Argentina holds an increasingly vital role as Vietnam's partner in Latin America, saying that bilateral ties span over five decades across politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet noted that bilateral economic and trade relations have continued to make positive strides in recent years, while expressing the desire to strongly promote educational and academic cooperation. She introduced the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam,a specialized training and research institution focusing on international relations, political science, and policy consulting, and proposed strengthening connections between the Academy and Austral University in areas of mutual interest.

Dr. Luciano Bolinaga, Director of the Center for Asian Studies at Austral University, assessed that both sides hold huge  potential for building partnerships between Vietnamese and Argentine universities and research organizations, with the Vietnamese Embassy serving as a bridge. He laid stress on the need to enhance understanding of the two nations' histories and cultures, while training more Argentine officials and business executives in cultural exchange and cooperation skills with Vietnamese partners. He also proposed advancing professor, scholar, and student exchange programs, enabling Argentine researchers to visit Vietnam to study the country's development and modernization process.

Dr. Afonso Santiago, Director of the School of Government, Public Policy and International Relations at Austral University, expressed deep impressions of Vietnam following his visit to Ho Chi Minh City last January, particularly the friendliness and hospitality of the people, cultural richness, and economic potential.

Dr. Santiago praised Vietnam's resilience and capacity for transformation, affirming Austral University's wish to accompany the country in consolidating Vietnam-Argentina ties. He stated that the contents discussed with Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet could be materialized in the near future, contributing to bringing cooperative relations between Austral University and Vietnamese partners into greater depth.

Dr. Juan de Dios Cincunegui, Director of the Center for Parliamentary Diplomacy Studies and Support at Austral University, valued cooperative ties between the Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Argentine Congress, as well as coordination between the two countries at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). He said that parliamentary diplomacy plays an important role in enhancing mutual understanding, creating additional exchange channels, and contributing to propelling Vietnam-Argentina cooperation forward across a variety of fields.

During the meeting, the Vietnamese Embassy also screened a video featuring Vietnam's prominent achievements in economic development, trade expansion, and international integration, thereby providing further information on the Doi Moi (Renewal) process and Vietnam's rising standing in the international arena.
