Argentina-Vietnam Cultural Institute’s new leadership vows to forge people-to-people ties
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina Ngo Minh Nguyet had a working session with the newly elected executive board of the Argentina-Vietnam Cultural Institute (ICAV) in Buenos Aires on September 10, marking the official debut of new ICAV President Gaston Fiorda to map out future cooperation directions.
Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet highly valued ICAV's great contributions over the past decades in strengthening people-to-people diplomacy and cultural exchanges between the two nations. Recalling good memories of late founding president Poldi Sosa, the Ambassador affirmed that Poldi served as a beacon and a sturdy bridge of Vietnam-Argentina friendship.
Speaking for the new leadership, President Gaston Fiorda expressed deep emotion and thanked the Embassy for consistently standing alongside ICAV while paying tribute to the late President Poldi.
He affirmed that as ICAV enters a new chapter, it maintains its enduring affection and admiration for Vietnam's heroic struggle for national liberation and contemporary development achievements. The new leadership pledged to dedicate their utmost efforts to further reinforce the friendly, solidary, and cooperative relations between Argentina and Vietnam.
Discussing future operational directions, both sides agreed to prioritize stepping up the promotion of Vietnam's land and people to the Argentine public, with a particular focus on the younger generation.
Accordingly, ICAV and the Embassy will step up coordination to organize seminars and conferences on Vietnam at major universities, such as the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and the University of Avellaneda, to deepen students' understanding of Vietnam’s history, culture, and current landscape. Furthermore, publishing books, videos, and materials on Vietnam in Spanish has been identified as a core tool to reach the youth.
The two sides also discussed plans leading up to the 30th founding anniversary of ICAV in 2027. The Vietnamese diplomat proposed that the Embassy and ICAV collaborate on gathering archival materials and imagery to co-produce a documentary on the Institute's 30-year journey, alongside the history of the Argentine people's movement supporting Vietnam during the resistance war and national construction efforts today.
Additionally, both sides plan to attend the screening of the documentary "The Price We Pay" by acclaimed director Ricardo Preve, which tells the story of an Argentine war correspondent who perished in Vietnam in 1968, at the Mar del Plata Film Festival this coming November, opening new opportunities for broader cinematic and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
