People-to-people diplomacy promote Vietnam-Argentina ties

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) held a workshop on November 14 in Hanoi to highlight the various contributions of people-to-people diplomacy to Vietnam-Argentina ties ahead of the 25th founding anniversary of the Argentina-Vietnam Culture Institute (December 18).

Upon addressing the event, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, president of the VUFO, stated that this represents an appropriate time to comprehensively evaluate the stellar results and remarkable contributions of the institute. Indeed, the VUFO has nurtured relations between the two countries for a quarter of a century, with the event being the perfect opportunity to discuss a range of measures to further promote the relationship in the coming time.

She affirmed that the institute can serve as a bridge of friendship to help bring Argentinean culture to Vietnam and vice versa.

In response, Poldi María Sosa Schmidt, chairwoman of the Argentina-Vietnam Culture Institute (ICAV), thanked Nga and the VUFO for always supporting co-operation activities between the two sides. She expressed her hope that the institute will continue to receive support and close co-operation from the union in promoting exchanges, solidarity, and friendship between the two peoples.

Schmidt founded the ICAV back in December, 1997, creating a bridge reinforcing friendship and solidarity with the Vietnamese people, as well as stepping up activities aimed at popularising Vietnam’s culture and people to Argentinean friends.

During the event, the permanent vice chairman of the Vietnam-Chile Friendship and Cooperation Association and representatives of the Vietnam-Venezuela and Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Associations shared experience in conducting activities to enhance solidarity between peoples of Vietnam and Latin American countries.

They backed the establishment of the Vietnam-Argentina Friendship Association.
