Vietnam Airlines repatriates more than 350 Vietnamese citizens from Canada, RoK
VOV.VN - More than 350 Vietnamese citizens were brought home from Canada and the Republic of Korea (RoK) on a flight operated by national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on October 23-24.
The flight was part of the joint efforts of competent Vietnamese agencies at home and abroad, and their counterparts in the host nations.
The passengers included children under 18, students who completed courses, the elderly, those suffering severe illnesses, pregnant women and workers with expired visas and contracts.
In order to successfully organize the flight as planned, Vietnamese representative agencies have cooperated closely with local authorities to create favorable conditions for the citizens to move to airports based in Vancouver, and Seoul, while sending staff to airports to help the citizens with boarding procedures ahead of their departure.
Strict security, safety and epidemiological measures were implemented during the flight to ensure passengers’ health and prevent the spread of the disease.
After landing at Van Don airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh, the passengers and crew members had their health checked and were sent to quarantine in line with regulations.
The repatriation of Vietnamese citizens in disadvantaged circumstances abroad will continue to be conducted in line with citizens’ wishes, the development of the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine capacity in the country.
