VOV.VN - A flight conducted on October 23 by Vietnam Airlines brought home safely more than 240 Vietnamese citizens stranded there due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic as part of efforts by Vietnamese authorities and Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines in coordination with the competent agencies of the host nation.

The passengers on board were children under 18 years old, the elderly, pregnant women, those under 18 years old, students without accommodation, workers with expired labour contracts, and others in special disadvantages.

To protect the citizens’ health and prevent the transmission of COVID-19, security, safety and hygiene measures were strictly carried out during the flight.

All the crew members and passengers underwent medical check-ups and sent to concentrated quarantine sites in line with regulations regarding COVID-19 prevention and control after they touched down at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.

Also from October 22-23, more than 360 Vietnamese citizens from the US and the Republic of Korea also returned home. They were also quarantined after arriving at Da Nang international airport.

More repatriation flights are set to be conducted in the coming time, depending on overseas Vietnamese’s demand and the nation's quarantine capacity.
