Two Lao nationals arrested for transporting drugs into Vietnam
VOV.VN - Border guards operating in the northern mountainous province of Son La have arrested two Lao nationals for transporting a huge quantity of drugs into Vietnam.
The suspects were identified as Thạo U Thong, 52; and Thạo Tum Vong Pha Chan, 42; both residing in Xiengkho district of Houaphan province.
According to details given following the arrests, on June 18 law enforcement authorities caught the two suspects red-handed as they were carrying a total of 12,000 pills of synthetic drugs, 1.4 kg of opium, and other exhibits.
The Laotian nationals admitted that they had bought the drugs from the Laotian capital of Vientiane and Sam Neua province at the price of VND32 million before then transporting the drugs into the country to be sold.
The case is currently under further investigation.
