Da Nang police bust drug trafficking ring from Laos
VOV.VN - The police in Hai Chau district of central Da Nang city said on June 7 that they have smashed a ring transporting a huge amount of drugs from neighbouring Laos, arresting a suspect.
The police said in March they discovered a group of people from outside of Da Nang coming into the city and contacting several drug dealers in the local area.
Preliminary investigations showed that the group brought drugs from Laos to Vietnam through unofficial routes and then transported them to Da Nang for sales.
On June 6, following a tip off from a private source, the police raided a hotel in Hai Chau district where they caught red-handed Tran Kim Hoan possessing one kg of ketamine, 2,110 ecstasy pills, and other related exhibits.
At the police station, Hoan confessed that he had been hired and paid VND20 million by a Lao man to transport the drugs into the city.
Further investigations into the case are now underway.
