Three localities report 43 community infections over 12 hours
VOV.VN - A further 43 local COVID-19 cases and one imported infection were recorded on June 8 morning, with current hotspots of Bac Ninh, Bac Giang and Ho Chi Minh City taking the most, according to data released by the Health Ministry.
Among the 43 cases of local infection, the most are in Bac Giang with 22, Ho Chi Minh City with 15, and Bac Ninh with 6.
Most of the confirmed cases in Bac Giang and its neighbour Bac Ninh are related to clusters at its industrial parks.
Of the new cases in HCM City, 10 cases are linked to the cluster at the HCMC's Revival Ekklesia Mission, a Christian congregation. Three other patients had come into close contact with previously confirmed patients and one were detected through contact tracing.
The number of cases during the latest COVID-19 wave since April 27 has amounted to 5,875.
One day earlier, Vietnam documented a total of 211 community cases across eight provinces and cities, with the majority detected in Bac Giang, Bac Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City.
The number of recoveries to 3,509 after additional 141 coronavirus patients were given the all-clear on June 7. The number of fatalities now stands at 53.
With regard to the third phase of human trials of homegrown Nano Covax vaccine, over 6,000 volunteers have registered for this phase which is set to start on June 8, according to the Military Medical University (MMU) under the Defence Ministry.
Nano Covax, developed by Vietnamese Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology JSC, will be tested on roughly 13,000 volunteers aged between 18 and 74, across numerous localities nationwide.
So far, over 1,340,000 million people have been vaccinated against COVID-19, mainly frontline workers in the COVID-19 fight, including medics at local hospitals. Of these, more than 38,160 have received the prescribed two doses.
More than 87,000 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 on June 7 alone in 14 provinces and cities throughout the country.
