COVID-19: 100 more cases recorded, daily caseload at 236
VOV.VN - Vietnam has logged an additional 100 COVID-19 cases, including 75 locally transmitted infections, during the past six hours, raising the country’s daily count to 236.
Of the 75 local infections, 30 were documented in Bac Giang, 23 in Bac Ninh, 20 in Ho Chi Minh City, one in Binh Duong and one in Hanoi (K Cancer Hospital No2).
Most of the locally transmitted cases were detected in quarantine and lockdown areas, said the Ministry of Health in its 06.00pm COVID-19 update.
Notably, 14 cases were closely associated with the Revival Ekklesia Mission Vietnam, a Christian congregation in Ho Chi Minh City’s Go Vap district. The sources of infection for three more cases remain unknown.
Overall, Vietnam has recorded 211 local cases in eight localities during the past 24 hours, with 122 cases logged in Bac Giang, the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot. Ho Chi Minh City is also another COVID-19 hotspot, registering 46 cases.
Among 25 imported cases announced by the MoH, one is Sri Lankan citizen flying to Vietnam from Qatar, others are Vietnamese citizens.
Data from the MoH show Vietnam has confirmed 5,832 COVID-19 cases, including 18 deaths, in nearly 40 cities and provinces nationwide since the virus resurged in late April.
The same day, the ministry also said that 141 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospital during the day, raising the total number of coronavirus recoveries to 3,509.
