COVID-19: 92 new cases detected in five localities over six hours

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health (MoH) confirmed an additional 92 locally transmitted coronavirus cases in five Vietnamese localities, with Bac Giang, the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot, logging 68 cases alone.

All the new cases in Bac Giang were detected in quarantine and lockdown areas in association with outbreaks at industrial parks, the MoH said in its 12.00am COVID-19 update.

Elsewhere, 14 more cases were documented in Ho Chi Minh City, seven in Lang Son, two in Ha Tinh and one in Hanoi.

Notably, the Hanoi case was detected in the community and the source of infection remains unknown.

Meanwhile, 10 cases in HCM City were F1 (i.e. in first-hand contact with COVID-19 patients) and four cases were detected through screening checkups at hospital.

Vietnam has so far recorded 5,757 cases, including 18 deaths, in nearly 40 cities and provinces nationwide since the virus recurred in late April.
